Ms. Looby earned her bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies from the Pennsylvania State University, and a master’s degree in Counseling for Student Affairs from the West Chester University of Pennsylvania. She was also awarded a National Counselor Certification (NCC) from the National Board of Certified Counselors. Ms. Looby has done extensive trauma work to provide crisis interventions to victims and families who’ve experienced gender-based and sexual violence (GBSV); including, but not limited to, domestic violence, rape/sexual assault, and intimate-partner violence. She held the position of Resident Counsellor at the Directorate of Gender Affairs where she provided direct counseling and crisis intervention to victims and families affected by GBSV. In this capacity she also played an integral role in the establishment of the Support and Referral Centre which opened its doors in June 2017; and is the first of its kind in the Caribbean Region. She also sat on the Multi-Sector Stakeholder Committee (MSSC) for the national Sexual Offences Model Court (SOMC) which launched in January 2019.Ms. Looby worked Crossroads Centre, a locally-based international addiction treatment facility, as an Admissions Counselor. She is still employed with Crossroads Centre in the capacity of Primary Addictions Therapist. Ms. Looby has represented Antigua & Barbuda at a regional and international level and has done extensive work with organizations such as UN Women- MCO Caribbean and United Nations Development Program.She operates a private practice that offers counselling services to individuals, couples, and families; mental health consulting; and professional development and capacity building opportunities. She continues to engage in her passion of providing mental health care and services to those in need, and advocating for improvements of mental health care systems and legislation at a national level.
